Tara
Privacy Policy
Effective 16 August 2026 · Supersedes the version of 7 April 2026
Tara holds three things that matter: the email you signed up with, the birth details you gave it, and what you have said to it since. This policy sets out where each of those goes, who else sees them, how long they stay, and how to remove them.
1. Who we are
Alpha Intel Labs ("we", "us") operates the Tara application and the pages on this site (together, the "Service"). We are the controller of the personal data described below. You can reach us at alphaintellabs@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
Account information
Your email address, and a password you never send us in readable form — sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, which stores the credential. If you sign in with Google, we receive the email address and basic profile information Google returns; we do not receive your Google password.
Birth details
Your first name, an optional cultural or Hindu name (chaati), your birth date, your birth time, and your birth place. The birth place is stored as text and as the latitude and longitude it resolves to. These four values are the entire input to your charts, and without the time and the place the charts cannot be computed at all.
Your charts and readings
The astrology profile generated from your birth details, and every reading produced for you afterwards — daily readings, compatibility reports, weekly deep dives and your chart analysis — are stored against your account so you can return to them.
Compatibility subjects
A compatibility report needs a second person's name, birth date, birth time and birth place. You are supplying information about someone else, so please only enter details you are entitled to share. That data is stored with the report and is deleted when you delete the report or your account.
Conversations
Messages you send and the replies Tara returns, grouped into named sessions, so a conversation survives closing the app.
Usage and account state
Message counts against your daily limit, your subscription tier, trial start and end dates, any promotional code applied, and your chosen reading language. Our servers also process the usual technical request data — including your IP address — to apply rate limits and to keep the Service available.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your contacts, your photos, your location while you use the app, or advertising identifiers. We do not run advertising, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
3. Why, and on what basis
- To provide the Service — computing your charts, generating readings, holding your conversation history. For users in the UK and the EEA, this is performance of our contract with you.
- To manage your account — authentication, subscription status, daily limits. Contract.
- To keep the Service running and safe — rate limiting, abuse prevention, diagnosing faults. Our legitimate interest in a working, un-abused service.
- To handle your requests — password resets and account notices. Contract, and our legal obligations where they apply.
Birth date and birth time can carry inferences about you. Where the law in your country treats that as sensitive information, you provide it knowingly and voluntarily, and you can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account. Tara does not ask for your health, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation, and you should not enter them in chat.
4. How birth details are handled
All astronomical calculation happens on our own servers. Your positions, ascendant, aspects, ayanamsa, nakshatra, dasha and Bazi pillars are computed locally from a standard astronomical ephemeris. We do not send your birth data to any commercial astrology or chart-generation service.
There is one outbound lookup. When you type a birth place as text, that text alone is sent to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim geocoding service to obtain coordinates. Your name, your birth date and your birth time are not included in that request. If you supply coordinates directly, no lookup is made.
5. AI processing
Readings are written by a large language model operated by a third-party AI provider. To produce a reading, we send that provider your generated astrology profile, the computed sky data for the reading, and — for chat — the messages in the current conversation. Your email address and account identifier are not sent.
Our agreement with the provider prohibits the use of your data to train their models. The provider may retain the request briefly for abuse monitoring under its own terms.
To keep responses fast and costs down, we send a short non-reversible hash derived from your profile as a routing key. It is a hash, not the profile, and it cannot be read back into your birth details.
6. Service providers
We name providers by the function they perform, because a provider may be replaced as the Service changes. In every case the provider acts on our instructions, may use the data only to deliver its service to us, and is bound by its agreement with us and by applicable data protection law.
- Authentication — verifying sign-in and holding credentials.
- Database and file storage — your account record, profile, conversations and reports.
- Cloud compute and hosting — the servers the Service runs on.
- AI model provider — generating readings, as described above.
- Geocoding — turning a birth place name into coordinates.
- App store billing — if you subscribe through the App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google processes the payment. We never receive your card details.
You can ask us for the current list of provider categories and their locations by email.
7. International transfers
Our servers and several of our providers are in the United States, so your data is processed there and possibly in other countries. Where a transfer leaves the UK or the EEA, it is made under an appropriate safeguard, normally the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses together with the UK Addendum. Ask us by email for a copy of the safeguard relied on for a particular transfer.
8. How long we keep it
- Account record, birth details and profile — until you delete your account.
- Conversations and reports — until you delete the individual session or report, or your account.
- Daily readings — kept against the date they were written, until you delete your account.
- Server logs — kept for a short operational period by our hosting provider and then rotated out.
Deleting your account removes your profile, your conversations, your reports, your horoscopes and your account record. It is irreversible, and we cannot restore any of it afterwards.
9. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- Delete everything — Settings inside the app removes your account and all data attached to it.
- Correct your details — the profile editor updates your birth data and regenerates your charts.
- Get a copy — email us and we will send you the data held against your account.
- Stop — close the app and delete the account.
If you are in the UK or the EEA, you also have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may complain to your national supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
If you are in California, you may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, request deletion or correction, and you will not be treated differently for asking. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Requests go to alphaintellabs@gmail.com and are answered within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm control of the email address on the account before we act.
10. Security
Traffic runs over HTTPS. API requests are verified against a signed token before any record is read or written, database rules restrict each record to its owner, and requests are rate limited per user. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that a determined attacker will never succeed. If a breach affects your data and the law requires it, we will notify you and the relevant regulator.
11. Guest accounts
You can generate a chart without creating an account. A guest account is identified by a random identifier and a secret held on your device, with no email address attached to it. If you lose the device or clear the app's storage, that account cannot be recovered by us or by you — there is no identity to prove ownership with. Creating a real account later migrates the guest data onto it.
12. Children
Tara is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
13. Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top of this page. If the change materially affects how we use data you have already given us, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
